WLS "newbie," Tymeka was gracious enough to share her journey! She’s making phenomenal progress and has the most positive outlook and determination to make this surgery a success! Q: When did you have your surgery?
A: Surgery date was October 1, 2018
Q: Which surgery did you have?
A: Gastric bypass.
Q: Why did you decide to have WLS?
A: The reason I decided to have WLS was because I tried dieting I would lose a few pounds but my hypertension and diabetes was beginning to effect my kidney function and it led me to make the decision to do WLS the reason for gastric was because I also had gastric reflux and the sleeve wasn’t the best option.
Q: How has it changed your life?
This new tool of gastric reflux has changed my life so that diabetes is gone kidney function is normal no more sleep apnea I wake up refreshed full of life and energy.
A: Name one non scale victory/benefit of the WLS that makes you happy.
My non scale benefit is my health has been better than it ever have been in the last 15 years.
Q: What are your plans to maintain and stay accountable?
To maintain I have begin training at work daily I have become a pescatarian which the food choices are better than I ever imagined. My accountability honestly comes from following Shenese Colwell.
Q: Pay it forward by giving the WLS community some great inspiration or advice.
A: The advice I would give is to be ready for the change both mentally and emotionally because your stomach was changed not your mind and emotions.
